A Modest Proposal on Gun control

Dear Diary,
Well its the closest thing I have to one.Anyways I would just like to express my personal feelings on a certain issues. Now that Halloween season is coming I imagine that New Orleans is becoming more and more chaotic. Local shootings is a terrible and sadly common tragedy in this city and we should address the problem at its core. We need to make private ownership of fire arms illegal. Now I know what my audience is thinking, if I had one. What about our most fundamental right as our americans descended from ancient four fathers? The right to bears' arms. Well what if I were to tell you, that the government has lied to you about the true meaning of that amendment. We are to form  gun unions or militia just like the National Rifle Association (NRA). Several militias is not only more social but more democratic as well. All these unionized militias will be able to keep America safe from any Redcoats threating our land. While I have faith that the state police will be able to regulate any unauthorized gun owners with utmost skill just as they regulate drug trafficking. Anyways its just a misguided oppion of mine.

Government Gone! Libertarians Around the World Unite!

Attention Americans, do not be alarmed! The members of congress are not dead, they are just sleeping until they receive their government paychecks. This is very similar to when the Redcoats burned the White House down in 1995. Yet the people persevered without the government and won the war. Now I have seen the scared faces of the children leaving in a hurry for Fall Break and saying that Stephen Colbert is the only sane one left. But it is times like these I am reminded by the words of Thoreau "A Government is best which governs least." It   is time that we as a nation realize that the libertarians were right. All we really need from the government is a road to drive our SUVs down. I am managing not only to survive this supposed crisis but I was still able to hand my essay on time. And not only that But have kept my health up under a reasonable budget. A feat the government has been proven to not be able to. Bottom line, who needs the government; I do what I want!

Crossfire is back! by: Alliciyia George

So for those of you who haven't heard, Crossfire is back! I happened to catch an episode the other day, and of course the topic was the government shut down. I never saw the original Crossfire that we talked about in class, but this one seems very different. The hosts of the show consisted of one Democrat and one Republican- both women, and they had two guests come - again one Democrat and one Republican. Each person was able to make his opinion known as well as a case for that opinion. Disagreements were handled quite civilly and in fact all of the people seemed to agree with each other on majority of the issues and possible solutions at least partially.
